Fry's has the AMD XP2400+ and ecs k7s5a pro motherboard for $89.

What is the minimum power supply that will work with this combo
assuming nothing but a cdrw/dvd drive?

In other words, if you are running this okay with a 250 power supply,
I'd like to know.

I have a K7S5A (not pro) with an Atlon XP 2000+. It would not run reliably
with an Antec 300-watt power supply. Reading this newsgroup, I got the
impression that this MB requires a lot more power than most. I now run
reliably with an Enlight 420-watt PS.

As a footnote, I just built another computer with an Athlon 2400+ and an
Epox 8RDA+ (nForce2) motherboard. This new sytem runs well with the same
Antec 300-watt PS that I couldn't use with the K7S5A.

I've just bought a qtec 350w 'low noise' PSU to replace my stock 350w noise
machine. But I can't even get past POST with it, even with nothing but the
cooler connected! Qtec tell me 350w is the 'peak' and it's really a 250w,
so look out!

I actually tried it with an abit socket A, but if I try it with the K7s5a
I've got somewhere, I'll report back.

Try it.If the power supply has been made with quality components you
may have no problems.
