I need a basic digital camera for taking basic snaps for emailing. A good
example is for ebay where I need to show items off to their best.
Considering I don't intend to print the shots, what is the minimum
resolution I would need? 1megapix?

Peter

1 meg is about 1280x1024 or about that size. That is much bigger than
what you need. Just look for a sub $25 web cam, they are usually decent
and can take 320x240 or 640x480 and will do fine with eBay and web
sites.

Unless good focus close up is important, you might get by with a real
inexpensive camera.

You can spend the time to crop the image from a cheap camera using a
photo editing program.... well, most of the time it will work.
