Post subject: Monitor Connections?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>videocards>nvidia (more info?)

I have a Nvidia GeForce ti 4800se video card that has analog and digital
outputs. I had the analog connected to a KVM so I could use a Shuttle
computer set up for mainly video. My problem is I just bought a new LCD
monitor that has DVI & analog inputs that I hooked up with DVI but I wanted
to be able to use this same monitor with the Shuttle (analog output) through
the KVM. What I did was leave the main computer with the GeForce card
connected with DVI and ran the analog cable from the LCD to the KVM (which
was still connected to both computers but without a monitor). Basically I
have both the analog & DVI cables hooked to the LCD at the same time with
the analog going through the KVM and the DVI connected directly between the
GeForce card & monitor. It appears to work fine except when I switch from
the Shuttle (analog output) to the main computer (DVI output that doesn't go
through the KVM), I have to use the OSD on the LCD to change to DVI. Is
this OK to do or is there a better way to configure the KVM to use the LCD
on both systems? Thanks, Joe
