I am planning on upgrading all my equipment an am stuck whether to buy a
Vizio like the Vizio L32 32" Widescreen HD-Ready Flat-Panel LCD TV and hook
it to the HDMI port on my graphics card OR just buy a 22" lcd screen from
Tigerdirect. If I buy the tv I'll hook up a wireless keyboard and mouse so
I can use it from a distance. I am planning on showing both Tv and web info
at the same time on whatever I buy. I will probably buy two of them so I can
have one big virtual surface to work on under WindowXp.

Any guidance you can give me will be welcome

thanks

I can't see that you'll sit as close to your tv as you do a monitor - not
even close enough for the larger tv to counter the difference. that means
you may find it hard to use a tv as a monitor for anything other than gaming
or movie watching.
many lcd tvs won't display a pc input at it's native resolution either so be
careful to check for that.
the lcd will probably have a lower resolution than the smaller monitor too.

i have had the privilage to own a dell 3007 30" monitor and sold it
shortly after i bought it to downsize to the acer 22" the 30" is way to
big and your too close to be able to focus on the whole screen. alot of
headaches trying to game on a 30" monitor the 22" is perfect the res is
great and it only cost 239.99 at newegg vs the 1400.00 dell 30" monitors
are for people who do C.A.D.

I got one of those. It's not too big. It's on my desk, I'm at work on
21" right now but I'd guess roughly 30" away from the eyes. It's
perfect. It's a great screen for programming; Perforce, Visual Studio
and couple of pdf files are open and overlapping "just so" nicely that
can see documentation, references and the source code without changing
focus between windows (too often).

It's not more productive, but it is more relaxing. Smile

It works for gaming just fine. 2560x1600 resolution's only drawback is
that graphics cards could be faster if want higher AA modes.

I got the older model, so no HDCP for dual-link dvi, that is one thing
the OP might want to keep in mind if that is his concern, I'm not him
so I don't know if he endorses the idea or not, or care about hacked
players which work around the content sabotaging system. (Something is
seriously wrong when (some) paying customers don't get the full-hd
video and people who pirate the content do...but let's not go into
that discussion.. Smile
