I have a Nokia 21" 445XiPlus monitor which is on a shared
connection with a PowerMac and an IBM 300XL Pentium II, Windows
98, with a Diamond Monster Fusion video card.
The IBM was purchased recently because some internet sites I'm
interested in are not set up for Macintosh computers. They
require interactive software that is only available for Windows
systems.
My problem is that I can't seem to get a true color profile from
the IBM. There are no pure whites(all have a pink tint) and the
greens are almost black and the reds tend to be tinted towards
orange. I bought the video card because I thought there was
something wrong with the on-board video which had exactly the
same color profile problem. As a result, depending on the
background color, some text can not be read because there isn't
sufficient contrast between the color of the characters and the
background on which they are displayed.
When I have two sites set up simultaneously on the Macintosh and
the IBM the colors generated by the Macintosh are just fine but
the IBM colors are not true. Also if I print the same page
through the IBM and the Macintosh I will get identical results
which look exactly like the monitor image when viewed from the
Macintosh.
I don't have very much experience with PC's and Windows so could
someone suggest whether I have a hardware or software problem
with the IBM?
