Netfinity 5000 and CDRW problem

I have a Netfinity 5000 (8859-51Y) that came with a CDROM. Now I need
to install it a CDRW but I have big problems with that
  I bought a normal CDRW IDE drive and installed it as usual, using the
same configuration as the replaced CDR. When booting, the server doesn't
detect the drive. If I replace it with its drive, it detects correctly.
  The CDRW drive is working fine because I tried it with other machines
(not Netfininity) and it works.
  Is there any special feature that I must be aware to buy a CDRW drive
for the server?
