Post subject: Networkcard has lost its MAC address

Hi folks!

My flatmate's Thinkpad has got a problem with the built in Intel NIC. It seems there is an error with EEPROM and now the MAC Address is lost and the Checksum is bad. I downloaded a firmware update from IBM's homepage, but due to the bad checksum it won't work.
Is there any way to repair this Question

Regards
