I wanted a simple solution to run a CAT5 cable into my living room to play
PS2 games online. My PC has 2 lan ports, so I setup ICS and everything
works great.

In order to run the cable through the smallish hole I cut in the wall b/w my
living room and kitchen (where my PC is), I cut through my crossover cable,
fed the cable through the wall, and then reattached each of the 8? wires
inside twisting them together and then using electrical tape to cover the
exposed wire on each.

I ran the PS2 online and it seems to work ok. Any ill effects from doing
this you think?

Jim

If it works, it works. You may have slightly deteriorated its noise
rejection ability by disturbing the twisted pairs, but apparently not
by enough to cause a problem you notice, so be happy.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
