After far too much research I finally purchased a Canon Powershot A610
which is excellent -- the A620 is 7mp instead of 5, and costs $100 more.
Presumably that would additional mp would only be needed if you take
numerous long distance shots.

Drawbacks: No Tiff or Raw, if that is needed, lots of redeye, have
histogram in display mode, but not live, 400 is a worthless speed due to
noise and can't be used. Other than that, multitudes of great features.

Actual owner of Nikon 3100 and Canon A70 - Hi. I would like to hear comment on these 2 camera from someone who has actually owned them. Not someone who has merely look up the reviews or have only 1 of these camera. Which would they recommend? Many thanks in advance.

Nikon Coolpix 4300 or Canon PowerShot A80 - I'm trying to decide between those two. One plus for the Canon is that one can use ordinary AA batteries, making it easy to continue shooting if one's rechargeables lose their charge.
