The specialized batteries ar not as cheap but pack more power for it's
weight, and as usual it's recommended that you get one extra so you
have one spare (set) if one goes out - but that's also the case for AA
batteries.
On the other hand, the A80 is quoted as not using more power than the
record-breaking A70. With 50% use of the LCD I have seen numbers in
the 900's in reviews (and that was with Powerex 1800mAhs - nowadays
2100 or 2350 mAhs are available)<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
