Post subject: Opteron 170 voltage and 9NPA+ Ultra
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>epox (more info?)

The opty 170s are rated as a 1.35v chip. On my Epox board (actually 2
builds) the voltage at default shows up as 1.41-1.43. Since I'm adding .15v
to be stable at 2550, I'm getting a reading of 1.56-1.58 in the BIOS and
Windows (Speedfan, CPUZ).

My temps, using the stock opteron HSF and some AS5 are always below 40.

I know that 1.55+v is considered about the max for stock air cooling, but my
temperatures makes me wonder if the sensor might be off. I've been assuming
that the 9NPA+ has been over volting the chip, but now I'm not sure.

So... can I trust the voltage as reported by the board? If I'm really
running at 1.58v I might want to turn it down a notch.

I'm running the latest BIOS (12/05)

9NPA+Ultra memory recommendations - Hey all! I purchased the 9npa+ultra board but, after a week and a half of looking for good memory for it, I'm at a loss. Since the latest BIOS versions support DDR500 for the rev. E Athlon 64s, I figured why not go with that (1GB total for now, with...
