P5N SLI - ready to junk it, what should I buy ?

Stll leaning towards ASUS but want to upgrade, other good brands considered
USB ports never worked, the passive ultra hot heatsink on the board is
worrisome, and its an early rev with known issues
I don't need sli dual video processing capability or on board audio ( use
external usb audio )

Want to keep 4 IDE PATA ports (well- that would be nice but not absolutely
essential), at least 4 SATA, on board NIC, and at least one regular PCI
socket and be able to reuse my existing (4) DDR2 memory, and core 2 duo
E6600 of course....

suggestions much appreciated
