Does anyone know how to run Windows XP in Safe Mode on the P5WD2 Premium
motherboard? The official method is to press F8 repeatedly at bootup, but
doing so brings up a boot device selection menu, instead. At that menu, I
am prompted to select from among the various potential boot devices on the
system. The menu's appearance is that of a BIOS routine, and I am not able
to enter WinXP's Safe Mode. I've checked the MB manual, but have found no
reference to the boot device menu. Can anyone set me straight? Thanks.

It's a timing issue. You are pressing F8 too soon. That said, the
window for pressing F8 to get safe mode may be unbelievably short, and
it may be all but impossible to hit the key at just the right moment.
Using F8 for a bios function was not a good idea.

Thanks for the help, Barry. That was the answer. I delayed pressing F8
until a later point and was able to get into Safe Mode. What a dumb
setup, especially without being documented.

Your method works also, and is probably a better way to time hitting F8
to go into Safe Mode. Thanks for posting.
