Post subject: PA-2011 & K6-2 450

I read the archives in Google on this subject, and was curious to get K6-2
450 (AHX and 2.4v) running on this mobo then flashed it to latest bios
626CC15 and since that the PA-2011's lowest voltage is 2.8 so I left this
voltage settings jumperless (all open) and after 4 hrs of playing around
those fsb and mupliter jumpers until I got 450mhz out of this setting-2x75
(K62 & 3 sees 2x as 6x, and Sandra reports it 6x75= 450mhz) ! then searched
for couple of hours to find programs that CAN read & monitor cpu's voltage .
Sandra and AIDA32 can't! Neither MBM, too.
So how do I KNOW whats voltage the cpu is enjoying or suffering??

if the silkscreen on the motherboard says 2.8 is the lowest then
that is probably right, I doubt there is any sofware that can read a BIOS
parameter that does not exist ~ is it a 2.4v cpu ? or 2.2 ~ still those
CPU are cheap and it mat tolerate the extra juice just fine

Yes, this 4 yrs old AMD cpu has 2.4v & AHX. I ran it again yesterday for a
while..I felt that its alright, and even played Insane (driving game -
fun!!) with ASUS GF2 MX400 32mb pci card. Speaking of pci card, I have 2
other nVIDIA pci cards: Vanta LT 8mb and TNT 8mb. Both CAN'T run on 2011 at
all, one blank and other bizarre display as if its fizzling colors around!

well the GF2 is by far the best of the three and there are lots of
older games that your computer could run
better to have too much juice than not enough, I am sure it's much more
stable that way, just cool it well

2.8v on a 2.4v cpu is marginal as long as you have very good cooling.
I would even try 2.8v on a 2.2v. It will burnout before reaching the
end of its useful life.

Typically cpu's will be more stable with more voltage, however the
problem is heat. Higher voltage equals higher temps. The reason
most overclockers use better than average cooling is, not only
does the higher speed generate more heat but also increasing
the core voltage slightly will make it more stable but also generate
more heat.
