Starting today, my PC boots to the AWARD BIOS screen. It has worked
flawlessly for over two years booting to WinXP. Any ideas?

Have you tried a bios re-boot?

Tell you why, I kept having 'please insert disc' at HDD boot up as
though the HDD was duff, tried a different HDD and was still same, I
became frustrated and decided to re-boot the bios by removing it,
that did the trick.

While it was out I measured it on a digi meter and read 2.5V so the
next day I went and got a new one.

But funny thing was all the bios settings was correct except for the
5V 30Amp rail which was down to 4.3V that was the only difference in
all the bios settings, it went back to 5V when I rebooted the bios.

So strange things was happening, hence the suggestion to you but make
sure you note all the settings as it will revert to default, knowing
my luck your fault may be entirely different.

BTW my mobo's the GA7VAXP
