Post subject: used PC wont take XP---Help!!

just bought a couple PC's from our county school auction and they have windows 2000 on them and ask for a username and password when I start them up...I tried loading my copy of XP into them but they wont do anything.Any info on how to get them to take the XP boot cd greatly appreciated!!

wmp54g wont install - I am trying to install this card on awin98 IBM 2171 P3 and it just wont go. Followed all the directions and get message There is a problem with your wmp54g network adapter Try installing again. I got the latest drivers from linksys and the same thing....

cd drive wont stay closed - I have a possessed cd drive. I put a cd in it and close it, the light come on, and then the cd door comes back open by itself. This keeps happening. It is TDK, win-98 machine. Do I have hardware problem you think? Matt

Fan wont stop in Stand by mode! - Hi people, I just got a new PC: AMD64 3500+, ASUS A8N-SLI motherboard and when i put the computer into stand by mode the CPU and Case fans still remain on! How can i stop this as the point of putting the PC into stand by is to stop the noise! thanks

Interesting problem - some old games wont play with my new.. - I thought it would be the other way around and it does work that way some of the newest games wont work with the older graphics cards thats obvious. But Jimmy Neutron and older game which runs perfectly on several PCs I have using the 400 and 420mx wont....
