Post subject: Parallel Port pin questions
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>chips (more info?)

I am trying to make my parallel port on my home computer drive a seven
segment display. Most of it seems pretty simple, but I was wondering
what to do with the pins I do not really need to perform this task
(/STROBE,/ACK,BUSY,PE,SEL,/AUTOFD,/ERROR/INIT,/SELIN, and the GNDS)
most of these seem like printer functions except im not printing, im
making things light up Wink. Can I just ignore these pins and leave them
floating (except the GNDs). Or should I pull them high or low depending
on the pin.

Thanks,
Rich

If you have nothing plugged in the par port, they float too.
So leave them.
