Due to some recently developing issues with my aging pc, I have to make
the move to build a new system sooner than I had hoped (wanted to hold
out until Penryn's were readily available).
To start things out, after getting a call from a friend about an
amazing deal, I grabbed 2 8800GT's earlier tonight, expecting that
running those in SLI would cover my needs for continued gaming with
World of Warcraft and Hellgate London.
Now, after doing a lot of research tonight, it would seem that there is
no motherboard worth buying that supports SLI, and also would run 45nm
procs. It would appear I might have made a big mistake with my purchase
of the 8800GT's. Is there any hope?

Check the CPUSupport web page, for a motherboard using those
chipsets. What you'll notice, is no support for 45nm processors.
"Nvidia 680i chipset fails future-proof test"
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/11/23/nvidia-680i-chipset-fails
"It has long been rumoured on Internet forums, but now a moderator
at EVGA forums has appeared to confirm that Nvidia's Nforce 680i
chipset fails to support all 45nm processors from Intel."
So be careful before purchasing a board, and check the CPUSupport web
page. The boards will still work fine with a Q6600 overclocked to 3GHz.
It just means doing some unnecessary upgrades later, if you want
to move to a 45nm processor.
Personally, I'd be pretty happy if someone would donate an "excess"
8800GT to me I could make a good home for it.
