This is one great camera but now having power-up problems. By the way it's
acting up, I suspect it is just a connector. I thought about tearing it
apart myself, but don't want to risk the damage. Problem is Olympus charges
a flat fee now - somewhere around $150 for this camera. Anyone know a
non-Olympus repair shop in S. Calif who might take a stab at this for less
cost?

Thanks.

John

This is the several year old 2 megapixel Olympus C700? You could buy
one for about $100 today at amazon.com or other places.

That'd be my choice too. Do you know of anything <$150 with a 10x optical
zoom like the C700? And in my case, anything over 2 megapixel is not
necessary.

My solution to this is simply no more Olympus cameras. Customer unfriendly
companies no longer have my trade.
Call Customer Relations and complain.
I still have One Sp, one OM-2 and one OM-10--was very unhappy to find out
that they dropped service for them

GM Chevrolet Division recently made a mistake that will cost them my
business and all of my relatives and decendents.
The factory rep refused to authorize a dealer repair on visibly bad
components until they fell off, Obviously hoping that this would happen out
of warrenty.
It will cost GM far, far more than the piddly cost of repair or even vehicle
replacement. My family had bought GM cars for 97 years. No More.

..

"thought it would be cheap for them to flash it maybe free because I
did everything according to their instructions and it died.
The problem was it was 1 month out of warranty. Nope $150 bucks"

Thanks, John! I really appreciate your taking the time to give so much good
info. This is the 2nd Olympus I have had and been relatively happy with
both. Fortunately for me, the Olympus repair facility is driving distance. I
may swing by sometime when the lunch truck is there and talk to the techs
who wander out for a burrito.
