Win2000 Pro; Nvidia Riva TNT2 model 64 (TNT2 M64)
When I try to resume from hibernation the following occurs:
After the blackscreen display of the hibernation resumption bargraph
fills, the monitor goes completely black, then momentarily blinks white
for a fraction of a second, and then remains black. This problem most
likely involves a display driver because the Z4's power LED is still
illuminated, and its HDD LED will continue blinking for about 10-20 more
seconds. The PC cannot then be directly shutdown; pressing the power
button does nothing. However, pressing the restart button will restart
the PC, but not as a resume from hibernation.
I've researched the problem and there is a consensus that it is a video
driver problem. One guy fixed this very same problem after trial and
error with various drivers for the TNT2 M64.
I've seen likks to drivers that are claimed to be suitable for not only
GEForce but also the earlier TNT2 M64. Is it wise to install such a more
advanced driver that supports a number of features that the TNT2 M64 is
incapable of performing?
