Anyone on board using the All-in-Wonder Radeon 9600 Pro with the S2460?

Any problems that might be expected with the use of this card, assuming the
'Shane' power supply connector mod has been implemented?

TIA,
Charles

If you have a decent (power hungry) graphic's adapter on a TYAN Tiger MP
chipset board, you could melt yout mobo's power connector....

This problem has been discussed in a number of postings on the 2cpu forum.
The "shane modification" can be found at

I have an All In Wonder Radeon in my S2460 based machine but its only an
original (7200 Series) one (still use a fair amount of power though). I do
have lots of other bits and pieces occupying the PCI slots without *any* PSU
related mods being needed. I did have the connector meltdown issue with my
old Enermax PSU but since I replaced that with a 460 Watt Enhance PSU I've
added more bits and its been running for around 2 years now without a hint
of a recurrence. That mod is only going to be of benefit if the PSU
connectors aren't very effective (in terms of conductivity) and there's no
decent over-current protection in the PSU used.

Well, as I have a 2460, all of this means that I cannot buy a Radeon All In
Wonder 9600 pro ? What about a Radeon 9800 XT ?

Hey
I'm searching a similar upgrade myself

I have 2 x 2400 mp's, 4 hard drives, 2 dvd cdrw's, 1 gig ram
no mod and a geforce ti4200...

I just took my whole system apart(which I do annually) to blow all the
dust our and reseat the cards. Also installed some new thermaltake
silent hs..- that's another story - but not one sign of atx burn

Main point is that I have a shit load of stuff, psu is enermax
550watt and I'm trying to find out how the ti4200 compares in
watts / amps to the 9600xt so that I can swap it out without worrying
about melting down....

no luck in about 2-3 hours of searching Sad

All of what means you cant buy an AIW 9600 Pro? That connector meltdown
problem is heavily reliant on the type of PSU used. The fact that ATI have
chosen not to put a floppy drive style supplemental power connector on the
AIW 9600 (as used on many other recent high end ATI cards) indicates that
this card doesn't draw enough power for bus power supply issues to be of
concern. If you are really concerned about it, the AIW 9800 has one of these
power connectors which lighten the power supply load on the motherboard, it
would be faster too (if your wallet is cavernous enough to afford one).

S2460 Won't Boot to BIOS - I just "upgraded" my S2460 to two MP 2400+ processors. It was mostly an experiment to see if it would work. If not, I was going to upgrade to a 760MPX board. After the install, it booted just fine. It ran stably for nearly a week. Last Sunday ...
