I have a Highpoint 1540 in my GA-K8VNXP and it behaves well with the onboard
VIA SATA raid as well as the ITE controller.
Although you have the nVidia chipset, it should still be possible - just
check to see if you can control the boot priority of SCSI devices in the
motherboard's BIOS. Without this, you may be forced on how to arrange your
drives.
(Some add-in cards may auto-boot without an option to shut it off which may
force you to have RAID arrays only on the add-in card - A situation I had
when I used an A7N8X)
