ECS tech finally got it through to me that there is a hardware issue --you
can't have a primary IDE and a SATA? so i disabled the primary channel and
it found the SATA drive "0' Master right away - no need to use the f6 option
during setup ect. thanks for the help

Glad you got it straightened out, but you did say in your original post that it
also didn't work " by itself with primsary and secondary IDE channels disabled
and SATA only". Hmmm.

but i quess that you physically need to undo the primary IDE cable???
thought i did it though , like i said they are haunted!!

755-A2 sata drive slow - I have a 10,000 rpm Raptor drive attatched to the onboard sata controller on a ECS 755-A2 motherboard. I have run benchmark speed tests on this drive using various tools. The raptor drive seems to be running a lot slower than the previously installed..

K7S5A won't boot off SATA HD - I purchased a 80GB SATA HD and a SATA controller card for my PC. I can see the SATA HD as drive D in WinXP, but if I try to make it my boot disk the system doesn't see the HD.
