Basic question - I just bought my first digital camera (a canon s230elph) and I have a question. - Should you take the battery out of the camera each night? Or is it o.k. to leave it in, even if you don't use it everyday? Thanks

Newbie question - Okay guys I am embrassed about this, I know a little about computers but nothing about digital cams Can anyone recomend the best cam for about £200??? I also need it to take SD cards (I believe these are the best) Thanks for your time and hard luck on..

Megapixel question - Does a 5mb camera take a better 4x6 picture than a 2mb? I always thought the more megabytes the larger the prints it can produce.

Lighting Question - What type of lighting or bulb would be similar to outdoor natural lighting. This will be used for a webcam.

SD card question - I bought a digital camera, Dimage Z2, and want to buy an SD card 512MB. What is/are a good brand? (or which one isn't) Peter

Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>dcameras (more info?)

Hello,

I'm relatively new to the digital SLR family of cameras, but had a
general question about them. I bought my wife a Canon Digital Rebel XT
for Christmas, but after getting it home and reading the owners manual,
found out that you must take a picture looking through the viewfinder,
and can't see the image on the LCD until after it is taken. I know this
isn't true for "point & shoot" digital cameras, as we have a Canon A510
that shows the image on the lcd.

Is this true for all D-SLR's or is it due to the Rebel XT being a little
older technology or ?????

Thanks for your help,

Bob

Bob,

That's the norm for an SLR. The SLR uses a different (read: vastly
superior) method of looking at the optics, and it works a bit
differently from the cheaper P&S cameras. There's nothing "older
technology" about a Rebel XT; the XTi works the same way.

That said, I seem to recall one or two SLRs with the P&S-style LCD
viewfinder - Olympus e-volt 330, perhaps?

Be happy with the Canon Rebel XT; it's a good camera.
