Post subject: SY-P4I875P Dragon 2 V1.0
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>soyo (more info?)

Hi !

I've been thinking about updating my two PCs at home and so I thought
about leaving the Athlon-Story and going to the Intel side (I've changed
a lot in the past, this time it's Intel: because of Hyperthreading).
I bought a board, a Gigabyte 8KNXP which runs almost good enough but
I have trouble with the second IDE controller (it's from ITE). So I
thought, ok, the second PC will get another board. I searched and came
to the Soyo Dragon 2 Platinum Edition. The problem: this board is sold
out now and will never come back. The lady from Soyo told me at the
phone that they have a new product, the Dragon 2 V1.0 which is
almost identical (just another colour, hm...) to the Platinum Edition.
The problem: I have to wait for it 2-3 weeks. As long as I can think,
in the IT it means: you may wait forever for this. It may be buyable
outside of Germany but here you simply can't get it anywhere.

Ok, why wait, I thought. Now I'm trying to find something similar
for me, maybe someone here knows about similar boards which
should have these features:

Intel I875P Chipset
2 Parallel IDE-Controllers (I'd like to have the second as an HPT
controller, I need to get 8 standard IDE devices on it)
At least one SATA controller (for future reasons)
Intel Gigabit Network (It must have Intel to have the data served next
to the PCI bus and not over it, CSA)
Sound (might be on almost all boards these days)
USB 2.0 (ok, again on all boards nowadays)

It would be fine if the board would also have this:

Prescott compatibility
Firewire Port

I can live without those 2 features but it would be better to have them.
Feel free to tell me which newsgroup might be better for this
question. Also feel free if you can tell me addresses where I might
get such a Soyo board right now. I'm open for every hint.

Thanx !

Mermgfurt,
   Udo
