I was looking at a new PC on Ebay and I saw one at a good price with
a Sempron processor. I read that they won't work for 64 bit and there
slower than athlons.
My main concern though is are they compatible with everything a
Athlon is compatible with? I'm asking because I heard Celeron processors
won't run AutoCAD without crashing but Pentiums will. Do Sempron have
any such issues? Do they have any downsides besides speed?

here's several reviews on semprons vs. xp vs. celeron, some being a year old. there are 462(xp) & 754(no 64 bit and with 64 bit) check newegg for comparison.
