Hi there!

Has anybody else perhaps this board? My board seems to have some
strange behaviour - perhaps because it's very new. And that is what
I'm trying to determine! I observe(d) following things:

1.) The temperature sensor for the cpu seems to provide different
temperatures for different software: In the BIOS itself and the Soyo
HW-Monitor 1.1 the correct temperature is displayed. SiSoft Sandra and
HW-Monitor 1.2 display a cpu temperature of 75°C! But this is a minor
problem and doesn't disturb me that much.

2.) The BayOne card reader is not correctly initialized by Windows XP
on some boots - the power light of the BayOne first is on but when
Windows switches to the GUI it simply goes out and none of the card
slots are detected. This is really annyoing since the only solution to
get it work is to turn off the pc and then turn it on again.

3.) On some boots Windows XP seems to have some problems with the
onboard Intel gigabit lan. The first few minutes after boot are okay,
but then the connection is suddenly lost. A few moments later the
connection is back and working - for a few moments. Then the procedure
is repeated and repeated and so on. The timespan I speak of here are
seconds! A look on the backside of the pc shows that the leds for the
onboard lan are off when the connection is lost. This is really
strange since lan works for the first 5 minutes. A reboot then seems
to solve the problem and the connection is stable for hours. So it
does not seem to be a defect in the hardware for me. Perhaps a problem
with the BIOS?

Has anyone else observed one or more of these problems or a hint for
solving the problems?

Hi Stefan, I can't help you with items 2 and 3 but I had the same problem
with the Soyo HW-Monitor.
I installed the latest one and when it ran it showed a CPU temp of 80°C. I
panicked and quickly checked the bios, all was well there. I uninstalled the
latest version and went back to the earlier one. Showing 45°C and holding.

Hi Ray!

Yesterday I saw on the Soyo download site that a new BIOS version is
available for the board (ICW24AA2.*). I immediately flashed the BIOS
to see what happens: Now the HW-Monitor that worked with BIOS version
4AP1 says chassis and cpu temperature are both 255°C - yeah, really
funny! Wink

And nearly one hour ago I came back from the vendor I bought this
mainboard - because I changed the board for a new one since the Soyo
support hotline thought of a defect in the LAN-chip. It now runs for
approx. 25 minutes and until now no sign of the problem with LAN. And
I'm crossing my fingers it stays like this! Wink
