I have a 1GB Umax Apus210 flash drive. A friend of mine created a new
partition and password protected 500mb of it. And then he lost the
password. I am not able to access this part of the disk. I have tried
formatting it, but hasnt worked. Umax doesnt seem to be responding. Can
anybody help me in getting back this space.Thanx

Try to blank it with a disk wipe utility. Maybe that helps.
If the password protection is a feature of the flash-drive

This clumsy security feature is done with special software.
Run it and delete the special partition.
