Hi,

I need to upgrade my graphics card, but have very little clue. (I need
a better card so I can play Prince of Persia, which wants a Nvidia
GeForce 3 equivalent or better.)

My system is 2 years old:

1.4 GHz Athlon
768 Mb DDR Ram
40 Gb HD
AsusTek A7A266 REV 1.xx Motherboard with ACPI BIOS Revision 1008
10/15/2001
XP Home

Current graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 400.

I'd like to be able to keep the graphics card for when I update
everything in a year or so, but don't want to spend too much - say
under £150?

What's the best I can get for my money? And how much better would it
be if I spent more?

Appreciate any help.

Nick

If you can stretch to £158.57, you could get a Radeon 9800 Pro from Micro
Direct.

Just a thought.

no need to update everything. You may as well sell your 1.4GHz Thunderbird
now while they're still worth something, & buy a Thoroughbred B 2400+ as
they're being dumped at cost. I assume your motherboard can take an Athlon
XP.

Probably a Radeon 9600 Pro. You could get a Radeon 9800, but it'd be a bit
over your budget.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thanks for the reply. I managed to find a Sapphire 9600XT 256 MB for £126
from dabs.com, maybe a little cheaper elsewhere but wanted some other stuff
too.

I imagine that in a years time a 2.4Ghz processor will be significantly
behind the times, no? I've already seen an overclocked 3.4 running at 5.25
GHz!!!

Anyway, looking forward to some (semi)serious graphics power, with huge
memory!

Thanks again.
