I'm buying a digital camera, prefer one with better movie recording.

Among the specs of a digital camera, what decide video recording length?
That's the difference between Internal Memory and Included Digital Media
Size. I saw some of them have Zero memory, why? Can we get an rough idea
about how long we can record video from any specs?

Thanks,

John

If video is your main objective, you should get a Video Camera.

The video function in most Digital still cameras is an after thought.

I have a Canon S2 IS (since supplanted by the S3 IS with even better video
capabilities)
-As I recall, the video is limited by the size of the media card. I've taken
a 30 minute video on my 1G card.
-You can use the zoom even while you are filming. (Very rare with a still
camera that does movies)
As CSM said "The video function in most Digital still cameras is an after
thought.", however I have to say that Canon has done a very good job of
integrating video into what is primarily a great still camera.

From S3 IS review at http://www.steves-digicams.com/2006_reviews/s3is.html
"In addition to recording in high-quality VGA (640 x 480 pixels) movie mode
at 30 fps, the user can increase the frame speed to 60 fps in QVGA (320 x
240) movie mode. Similarly, the camera also features a QVGA 320 x 240-pixel
setting with a choice of 30 or 15 fps. Continuous movie recording is
possible up to a maximum file size of 1GB or 60 minutes, whichever comes
first."

Most non-SLR digital cameras will also do video, and one or two videos can
add quite a lot to the interest of your slide show. Fireworks, for example,
are generally boring as stills, and a lot of fun as video, particularly with
sound.

Some cameras, such as my Nikon Coolpix 8700, are limited to 30 seconds or so
of video before the internal memory runs out. Other cameras, such as the
Casio EX-Z757, record directly to the media card for a much longer video.
If video matters to you, I'd recommend that you get one that records
directly to the card.
