Yes, I was aware of that, hence the reason I was interested in hearing if
the simple idle command hack had been included in any of the modified
BIOS's. I've tried a few of the programs you listed, but they all seem a bit
like bloatware given all they essentially do is trigger the relevent
register.
The PC has a good quality spire Falcon Rock II with 2x2500rpm case fans plus
PSU, so cooling and airflow should be satisfactory. That said, T'birds run
notoriously hot, and a 15 degree idle temp difference has got to be a good
thing when your talking about a processor that can hit the high 50's under
load.
