That's actually more luck than I've ever had - the only systems
I can get to power up with WOL are ones with linksys NICs. I've
tried several motherboards that claim WOL support in the onboard
NIC and several other brands of NICs and only the linksys cards
have ever worked.
Unfortunately, even with the linksys cards, I see the same thing
after a power failure - I have to manually power on once before
WOL will work. I think it has something to do with the standby
power requirements for WOL and standby power going away after a
power failure (just my theory - no actual evidence
