You need to wire the second Router/AP to the first. And yes I would
assign a static IP address so you can access it more easily. You can switch
the routers to get the better one attached to the modem. Just write
everything down, ie passwords, ipaddresses, mac addresses, etc.
I am not sure why you are adding the second router/AP. Your wireless
nodes should be able to connect to the first from 100ft. I have the Linksys
BEFW11S4, and get a little more distance with good signal.
