Well if you want to give yourself the most upwards options, try a K7N2
Delta, as far as MSI boards go, or any other mobo based on the nForce2
Ultra chipset. The CPU you have will work in it and you can replace it
with up to an Athlon XP 3200+.
Depending on what board you've got right now, a new mobo is going to
call for new RAM. Unless you already have quality DDR memory.

Hello!

It would be nice if you could tell us if the subject is about a processor
plugged into a slot or one set onto a socket.

The Athlon 900 Socket A chip will work in any recent board. Presently, the
preferred chipset by many folks is the nForce2, of which there are quite a
few pretty good boards out there, such as the K7N2 Delta series...

Look at this:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www2.amd.com/us-en/recmobo/ResultsHandler/1,,30_182_869_1039" target="_blank">http://www2.amd.com/us-en/recmobo/ResultsHandler/1,,30_182_869_1039</a>^7929~63757,00.html

It's a list of boards recommended by AMD.

I seem to recall reading in my Asus A7N8X-Deluxe Rev2 (nForce2) manual
that 1000 is the lowest processor to use.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
