Post subject: How to boot from CD ?
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>soyo (more info?)

I have a P41865PE Dragon 2 with 2 HDs and 2 CDs. One HD must be
primary master for XP. I discovered this through trial-and-error.
The other HD is new and for Linux. I need to be able to boot from one
of the CDs to install Linux. Every disk configuration/boot sequence I
have tried results in the XP getting booted. The boot sequence
options I see are: floppy, LS 120, IDE1/SATA1, other device, CDROM,
ZIP100, disabled.

How can I boot from one of the CDs?

Thanks, Bob

set to boot from CD ROM first, then hdd. You may have to to try
another bootable CD and make sure that option works ie the drive can
read CD's well enough to boot or 2) unhook one of the CD drives or 3)
unhook the hdd you are not going to install to

You may have problems with the CD. Verify that it is bootable on another
"working" machine.

Don't let this stop your linux install. You can make a boot disk...
which Linux distribution are you using? Red Hat? If so, you can use
rawrite.exe on the CD (dos/ subdir) to make a floppy disk image.
