| About three years ago I built a computer using a P4P800 board, today I
turned it on and nothing booted, the green Led is lit and all the fans run,
does this mean the board has bit the dust, or maybe the power supply is
putting out the wrong voltage? thanks for any help.

couple of things to try and check
try reseating all the cards on the board including the memory
try turning off the power supply and unplugging it and then reconnect.
A couple of thoughts, it could be a bad power supply or the board when bad.
Check for any burn marks on the board and for bulging or leaking capacitors

Check for ICH5 failure. The chip can burn, as shown in the picture,
or the chip may be visually OK. The failure mechanism looks like CMOS
latchup, and the burn mark is over top of where the chip gets power
for the USB ports. Static discharge into the USB ports can trigger this,
but is not the only cause. (One guy had a failure during a reboot, not
changing cables or anything.)

Check to see if there is any warranty left on the motherboard.

Check the caps near the cpu, I had a p3 A*it board that did this, I did a
bodge job and replaced the caps with the nearest thing I could find as a
temp fix, the damn thing lasted 3 years and has only just died. I think if
I checked, it's probably because of a dry solder joint on my repair.
It's already dead you can't really break it too much more can you? >> Stay informed about: Won't boot |
