I have been working with computers for years now, I mean employed working on
them, in addition to just being into them. I have noticed that 19" monitors
of all different brands seem to fail more often than 17" monitors and in
particular they seem to fail in such a way that the screen gets a reddish
tint to it.

Within the last year I have returned at least 3, maybe more 19" monitors
because of the reddish tint.

Do you guys all see this too?

Thanks,
--Dan

Hitachi SuperScan 752 ... as good as the day I bought it ... 4, 5 years ago?
Home use only though.

AOC 19" pure flat CRT, excellent picture & the cheapest in the shop at the
time - two & a half years old and going strong (touch wood). Perhaps you are
unlucky? Wink<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I have 2 Hitachi SuperScan 751 Elites. Both are great after about 4 or 5
years, too!! I wish I had this quality on a new small LCD screen, though.

You could! Hitachi gets great reviews on their LCD panels as
some of the best on the market. Some LCD's come darn near close!
And certainly sharper clearer text! I didn't think a LCD
could turn me away from my best quality CRT but now.... I'll
never go back to a CRT. I've been very happy with my
Princeton 19" LCD VL1916 that's even better than my Sony
or Viewsonic 2003 CRT models. So much easier on the eyes
for the extra clearer text and graphics but you know it all
balls down to personal choice though. Unfortunately I have
noticed that 15" LCD don't get the better quality of 19"
LCD's! I got my other half a 15" LCD and we weren't happy
with it and tried 4 other 15" LCD makes but the quality
wasn't there so I had to get the other half a Princeton 19"
LCD like mine and how the other half is very happy with the
quality and excellent sharp clear text, colors, and graphics.
Happy LCDing! Smile

Its not really MY luck, I have worked for a couple companies doing tech
support type of stuff for the last 6 years. I just have not seen the same
rates and modes of failure on 17" monitors as I have seen on the 19"
monitors. I guess it could just be my limited exposure to 19" monitors
gives me this feeling. I mean, I see a ton of monitors, but in reality I
see very little of the entire market.

Thanks for the input!
