Hey guys. I have a 7900gs (256MB) I sent back today RMA so I picked up an
8600gt (512MB) to use in the meantime. It seems like the 8600 is maybe a
small step backwards in performance. Does anyone use a similar card and
could tell me how it should perform? Thanks all!

The 8600GT is indeed a step backwards in performance:

For the serious gamer, the 8800 series are the only cards worth buying in
the GF8 family. At the minimum you should have gotten a 8800GTS 320 MB.

comparison question - I am building 20 PCs for a game center. I am trying to figure out if I should cut costs and go with the 5700 Ultra or go for the gusto for 2 bills more and get the 5950 ultra. I know the 5950 is clocked faster, but is there a disernable difference..

Card Comparison - I have two cards, one is a Gainward GeForce 4 4800 SE 128MB Memory Golden Sample and the other is a eVGA GeForce 6200 256MB Memory. When I play World of Warcraft, with the 4800, the game is much smoother and performs better then the 6200. Why is that?...

Geforce Card Comparison - Hello, My trusty nVidia Geforce3 Ti500 is starting to make some noises from the fan, so it looks like it might be time to move on to another generation. I've narrowed my search down to either a Geforce4 Ti4600 or a Geforce FX5200. Just looking for some....

Comparison between TI4280 and FX5600XT - Hi guys, The seller of my PC substituted in warranty my old TI4280 VIVO (128 MB) with a FX 5600 XT (256 MB) and, as expected, the performance has heavily degraded. The shop claims that 5600 XT has equal or best performances when compared to 4280 (hah!)...
