Post subject: Is my cpu dead?

okay im new to this forum but i read alot about ocing and bought a 1500+ mobile off of ebay but it was fried right off the back. but i still put it in my pc and now my pc wont boot with my 2600+ so i put a working duron 800 and nothing so i know that my motherboard is dead, but the main question is. i put my 2600+ 333fsb cpu in a old pc133 266 fsb motherboard and it didnt boot/post at all. i checked the cpu and it dont seem fried. i heard that you cant put a 333 cpu on a 266 boards. but wont a 333 just boot at 266 speeds and my cpu is fired, or the cpu is not fired and i just need a new 333 board thanks alot for your time any info you need to resolve my problem just ask oh and all my other hardware work (ram,hd, videocard etc) just not my board and maybe my cpu.

yes i cleared it. the board i think is dead is gigabyte GA-7NF-RZ
THE OLD motherboad i used to test the 333 cpu (2600+ 2.083 ghz) is
soyo SY-K7VEM Pro (not v1.0) its an old mb i use for back up it has an 800 duron with pc100 512mb ram.

i put in the fried mobile 1500+ in the soyo and i read that it dont support tbreds so i thought maybe i should just try it in my pc ( big mistake) and it didnt boot so i said oh well i knew it was fried neways so i put back my 2600+ and nothing so i check for anything pulled by mistake nothing so then i clear cmos nothing and then i thought it was the cpu so i put the duron in it and nothing so i knew then the mb died. then i put the 2600+ in the soyo and nothing but i read that you cant put 333 fsb cpus in 266 boards and its not even 266 its 200 because the ram is pc 100 im hoping thats the case and my cpu is fine so i can just replace the mb thanks for your intrest and sorry for being long jsut wanted to let you know what i did so you get what i did and what i did wrong and if im missing something all ram and stuff are fine i just thing the board died and my big ? is that is there a chance my cpu lives or not i took it to a friend and he thinks its okay nothing wrong with the cpu what you think form what i told you.
and im using the duron 800 and soyo board as right now so there working but that wierd why did my gigabyte die and not the soyo if i put in the 1500+ first in the soyo then the gigabyte?

try booting with just the cpu, hs/fan, vid card and 1 stick of ram. i wouldn''t rule out the psu. if you can get hold of a digital multimeter and check the readings on a molex connection.

check the 12v line. it's the yellow wire and either black one. you want a reading at the very least[u] of 11.5v and that's not good either.

always remember to plug the the psu back in. that will stop your heart too when the you hit the case start button and nothing happens. Laughing
