Dear group

Iam new to this group

The cpu fan stopped rotating i replaced the fan but the original problem
remained.

The PSU is ouputing the correct voltages as measured by a volt meter and by
the bios health check status.

I have measured the voltage between the yellow and red and yellow and black
terminal on the 3 way plug cpufan1 with the fan disconnected and get 4V DC
in both occasions. I also measure the same voltages on the casefan1
terminals on the mainboard.

Does anyone know what is faulty so i can replace it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I presume the fan requires 12 v dc to opperate across the yellow and black?
what is the red lead for? As i cannot get the fan to opperate with a 9v
battery across the yellow and black or the replacement fan.

Ian

The yellow is the rpm lead. You should have 12vdc across red and black.
The two outside pins on the header.

Black is ground. (-)
Red is Positive. (+)

Yellow (sometimes blue or green) is for the fans RPM detection, do not
apply power to this lead.

What ever you do, don't short out the fan header pins!
