Post subject: New desktop and mobile Athlon 64's announced
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>chips, others (more info?)

Busy day for processor announcements today. AMD introduced a new desktop A64
3400+ speedking, which makes it the first 3400 rated processor on the
market, coming out ahead of any Pentium 4 3.4Ghz processor. Anandtech
actually calls this A64 3400+ "the death of the FX-51". Smile

Amd also announced it will begin shipping mobile Athlon 64's in the 2800+,
3000+, and 3200+ rating ranges. Will have to see how these compare to the
power consumption of Pentium M processors.
