If you are talking about the message in Windows XP, then ignore the message.
XP is likely not caching the data.

There is a setting in Windows XP that will change that behavior.

Connect your Card, Right Click My Computer, properties.
Hardware Tab, Click Device Manager.
Disk Drives, find the one that is your card. (Not your main HD)
Right Click, Properties, Policies Tab. You have some choices for the
behavior. If Optimize for Quick removal is checked you get the behavior you
now have.

Be careful, if you cache the data, you must click the remove hardware icon
on the task bar to be sure the data is written to the card.

If you forget, you may screw-up your memory card.
