Those instructions sound like the ones they give for XP.
I started an old computer with Win 2000. (SP 2) I opened the scanner and
cameras icon by double clicking on it in Control Panel. No cameras or
scanners were present. I then closed all windows, connected the camera, and
started the camera. Zoom Browser (V 2.4) started after checking this
program in the dialogue box and pressing the OK button. Zoom Browser opened
the camera interface window and accessed the camera drive displaying the
pictures. Then I reopened the scanner and cameras properties window and
there was the camera. It only shows the camera when connected. I clicked
the "add" button to see what happens: A wizard starts.
As long as you are using a USB connection there should not be a problem with
the camera being recognized. It seems odd that the wizard won't start,
indicating a Windows issue or problem. Those yellow marks by the device are
a problem but they can also appear when a specified device is not attached
to the computer. The computer I started is 5 or 6 years old and Zoom
Browser worked well for me for a long time. (I haven't used this computer
for 2 - 3 years.) In the last couple years I quit using Zoom Browser
because I couldn't get it to work. I was thinking the problem was XP but
maybe it wasn't. Sorry I can't be of more help. These problems are
extremely frustrating and it's nice to be able to get an answer and not
waste time.
