Post subject: Cdrom firmware update
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>cd-rom (more info?)

I've got an IBM390E with CRN8241B cdrom. After installing the Mandrake
9.2 distro it stopped to read cds(no noise) at all although it seems to
exist in the Bill's system. I have tried firmware update, but after
rebooting nothig changes and when I boot from the floppy with firmare
again it turns up with the old one in flash memory.
Is any effective way to update this ...!#@$@... cdrom?
