I have the same card, and I like it alot. They are an 5900XT
style of card (400/700), a liitle weaker then the non Xts, but still
a strong card. And as best as I can convert, the price you paid
look OK.

Is this a better card than the 5900XT? Are there any other good value
pure-5900 cards out there?

A FX5900 is better than a FX5900XT or FX5900LX.
It has 850MHz memory, the XT has only 700MHz.
Also core speed of the FX5900 is 400MHz, some 5900XT have 390 or even 375
core speed.
So yes, the FX5900 *is* better than a FX5900XT.
The best advice is to look for exact quoted figures for the product you are
going to buy. I noticed on ebay some creative FX5900's that were actually
FX5900XT's. Check the spec, so to speak!
