Hi all,

I've just received my new computer with the G550 and, frankly, I'm
disappointed - the image appears "lifeless". I'm afraid my English is
too poor to convey my exact impressions. What I mean is that my
immediate reaction was to try and increase the monitor's contrast and
brightness, but without much success. All the colors seem to appear,
and modifying colors (rgb intensity, cold/warm, gamma correction) did
have effect. However, the monitor (which I know and have worked with a
lot) displays an image that is just not lively. The image of my old
computer connected to this very monitor with an old ATI All In Wonder
Pro was much brighter and energetic.

As this is a new computer, I don't really know how to handle it. Is
this a bug or a feature? Maybe this is how Matrox boards are supposed
to behave? Something like "to reduce I fatigue for serious business
use"? Or is this a bug, but not specific to my board but to all G550
series (i.e. "The G550, though great for business use, are known for
that "dead" feeling") or is my new board faulty?

Avi

Hi Avi

Your English seems pretty good to me Smile

Before you do anything else, download a free trial of Displaymate, from:

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.displaymate.com/" target="_blank">http://www.displaymate.com/</a>

...and see how the setup procedures affect your picture.

Perhaps you had your last card set with too much contrast and colour!

Good luck

John
