Hi:

I've been having major problems in the past week.
-Win98se on Asus a7n8x with Barton 2500
-1 dvd burner
-2 cd burners
-4 Western Digital 120GB hard drives
-1 Promise Ultra 133 tx2 Controller

-I recently added the Promise card after getting drives 3&4 and the
dvd burner.

I'm having all kinds of problems setting up everything.
-can't get win98se to create a swap file if c drive is attached
to the promise card
-can't get drive image to reboot properly when its creating
an image. It says that EZ-Drive is installed but not running.
-several other problems that I don't understand.

Promise SUCKS!!!
-their manual doesn't tell much of anything.
-their website is even worse--practically no info!

Western Digital's website is very confusing.
They seem to have a large knowledge base, but after spending
quite some time there, all I could find was very specific answers to
specific questions. But I don't even know what to ask!!

What I need is this:

A website or link that gives me basic but detailed info on hard
drives, mbr's, bios's, overlays, etc., etc., (especially overlays)

I'm intelligent & can pick things up easily IF they are
presented in a detailed layout. I'm also a novice in my understanding
of hard drives. I don't need specific answers, I need
"Hard Drives Intro 101." (and then maybe "Hard Drives Advanced")

After that maybe I will be able to ask the right questions and
get the needed answers.

Thanks for any leads or links you can suggest.

Ron
