I'm using Yahoo's Voice to make/receive phone calls. I would like to
'record' each conversation I have.
I do have the permission of the other people to record these
conversations in case you were curious.
I've searched Google for a long time, seem to find the same programs
but none of them work right.
I am ABLE to record MY voice during the conversation but the other
person's voice doesn't record?
What am I doing wrong?
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Software? Anything?
thanks. >> Stay informed about: Can someone "please" help me with recording VOIP? |

you need a software solution that can record 'what you hear' .....my old audigy 2 plat.
would do that.

Have you asked Yahoo whether Voice software
prevents recording the other party's voice for the
obvious legal reasons?

Found a freebee here. No idea what it does, or if it is even close
to tapping into the audio streams, without having to access the
source of the samples.
http://oreka.sourceforge.net/download/
Audacity is another Sourceforge project for audio, but when I tried
it, it wants to own the audio device, and probably would not play
nice with another application.

No, I already have the permission of the people who I would be
calling, that isn't the issue.
The audio card on the motherboard is so stupid it won't record both
the sound from the person you call as well as your own voice. >> Stay informed about: Can someone "please" help me with recording VOIP? |

Hmmm ... Audacity was the program I was about to suggest using ....
It solved *my* recording problems.
I think it "owning" the audio device is what makes it work when others
don't.

I downloaded that program and installed it. It makes no sense, their
doesn't seem to be a program to "run"?
Just some references to folders with more files with no sense it seems
as to which once you use.
I'm using winxp, seems this app was written for linux too.

Hmmm ... I'm thinking you got the Linux version.
With XP, when installed, you should get a program called Audacity.exe;
generally in the C:\Program Files\Audacity directory.
There should also be a audacity-1.2-help.htb help-file, a licence.txt
file, and some uninstall stuff.
You might also find some subdirectories for plugins, languages, and
other stuff.
The file you installed with should have been something like:
audacity-win-1.2.4b.exe; which would have created all the above.

The original poster already addressed that issue, but I'll bite the
troll.
I suppose your politics wouldn't allow anyone to remember or repeat
what they've heard either, as if a bad memory is a good thing
(probably true in some circles).
Trying to regulate someone else from recording a conversation is a
crutch for people who have something to hide and no self-control.
How about if someone writes down what the other person says?
Is recording fidelity the problem? What if they write down stuff
you didn't say?
If there were any legal reasons for not being able to record what
someone else says, that could be acted on elsewhere at an appropriate
time. For example, if you don't want what you say to be used against
you in a court of law, you could simply ask that the recording be
inadmissible. Even if there were such a law against recording a whole
conversation, it could not be enforced.
