I got a HP 735 3.2 digital camera for xmas. I plan on taking my
first batch of 50 images to my local walmart or walgreen store for
processing and need your advice.

I assume I should crop or change all the images to the 4x6 format in
some of my image processing software. I'll be doing different image
sizes that vary from 56k to 1.5meg. When done, I'll load them back on
my 32meg SD card and carry the card in for processing. I'm keeping my
best shots at originally value and reducing the size of other shots so
I can fit 50 of them on the card. (The charge per print drops from 29
cents to 20 cents when you have at least 50).

Any hints or suggestions?

Looks like you have a plan.
Give it a shot.
If you have W-XP and the power toys resizer, you can select all 50 and
make them the same size.
If your only going to print 4 X 6.
640 X 480 should be a good size.

One other choice would be to put images on CDR or CDRW after you crop/edit
them. You can put a huge number of images on CDR. The only time I have
printed this way at Walmart a lady had her SmartMedia card stuck in the
reader machine!!!!

As you become more advanced in this, you'll want to take full
advantage of these Frontier and Noritsu photo printing facilities by
paying attetion to the following:

(1) Always format your photos to the desired size, 4X6, 5X7, etc. If
you need smaller pictures, combine them as desired with Photoshop on a
printable size.

(2) The image should be 300 DPI for Frontier printers, others such as
Noritsu vary from this. If you give them an image having a different
DPI, the machine will resample your image.

(3) These printers generally expect images to be in an sRGB
colorspace. This means that if you simply dump images from Photoshop,
etc. into them, your prints will look decidedly flat. If you
postprocess, always convert your images from Adobe RGB (or whatever)
to sRGB.

(4) Either TIFF or high-quality JPEG images are acceptable; however,
JPEGs will process more quickly, and the difference in quality is
negligable in this case.

(5) For more accurate color and best results I suggest profiling these
facilities by scanning in a test chart form ProfilerPlus. When the
print of this comes back you can create a custom profile that will
provide outstanding results-or at least, the best results you can hope
for with these sRGB printers. Profiles for these printers may also be
found at <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.drycreekphoto.com." target="_blank">www.drycreekphoto.com.</a>

Is this free?

It will be a cold day in hell before I pay for it. 20 cents per
print is my UPPER limit.
