If you have the money, and want to take halfway decent shots, spend a bit more and get a 4 or 5 MP cam. You'll be happy you did.
Also, get a "known camera name", like Canon, Olympus or Nikon. I'll say, from personal experience, that Sony also builds a good
consumer P&S cam.

hp does make a 5.3mp cam. its the 935 and 945, near the bottom of this
list..
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF02a/15179-64213-64342.html" target="_blank">http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF02a/15179-64213-64342.html</a>
the 945 is a digital slr type cam.. a little too user friendly for me.
exposure goes from ISO100-400.. a little slow in between pics, cheaper
feeling outer casing.
it goes along nicely with other hp products..
some of their cams have Pentax lenses.. pretty sure the 935/45 have pentax
lenses both..

HP builds computers, not cameras. I have no idea who OEM'd this for them. I would still go with a "known camera name". Anyhow, the
HP line "LOOKS" cheap. Not what I'd pay $500-600 for.

they don't OEM them, they really are made by hp themselves.. (not that thats
a good thing
there are lots of things you cannot do with an hp camera, that even my nikon
cp2000 can do. exposure, white balance, my macro is way better, i can get
up to around 5 cm away with a very sharp shot..
i actually work for hp, so i just wanted some "professional/amateur"
opinions about them.. i think they suck hard and wouldn't EVER buy one of
these cameras.. they do have pentax lenses though, but still, its a lense..
the only good thing HP makes is printers.. their PC's are pretty descent,
but their printers are hands down the most advanced on the planet..
especially their photosmart printers.. i have the 7150 photosmart printer,
and it makes incredible photos from my cp2000 shots.. (2mp)

We all know that HP cams aren't that great. If you're complaining about
their high end unit not being good enough for you- why even ask about them?
Sure, buy a cheap one for a kid. But any reporting system will show they
dont rate high in terms of durability and quality.
The man said it good- Canon or Olympus.
